And yes, her life is structured by Protocol and full of little "habits" that help her get through the day. But none of that matters when her twin sister disappears. Eloise has to suck it up to try and get her back. She sets out with her champion (a nervous, yammering chipmunk), her guard (the human incarnation of rectitude), and two horses (one an equine perfection, the other on a vow of silence). Like a kind of fantasy-world Gilligan's Island meets Discworld, a quick little two-day jaunt turns into traipsing across realms. sniffing out a trail that is getting colder by the minute. The Purple Haze is a humorous novel set in a world of weak magic, talking animals, and wäÿ töö mänÿ ümläüts. The Star of Whatever (The Western Lands and All That Really Matters Book 2)
The slightly OCD princess was doing just fine, thanks.
Then she got thrown to her death.
That might have put a crimp in things.
Princess Eloise, Future Ruler and Heir to the Western Lands and All That Really Matters, swallowed back her "habits" and went after her missing twin sister.
She found her.
Awesome!
And then they both got chucked into the mysterious, magical, deadly Purple Haze.
Less awesome!
While her champion (a nervous, yammering chipmunk) and her guard (the human incarnation of rectitude) rot in prison and her two horses desperately try to find some way to help, Eloise and her sister go deeper into the Purple Haze to discover the source of the inner tug they both feel.
The Star of Whatever (book two of The Western Lands and All That Really Matters series) is a humorous, Discworld-ish novel set in a world of weak magic, talking animals, and wäÿ töö mänÿ ümläüts. Spotlight and Giveaway The Werewolf on Lowre Few Lane by Bryce Bentley-Tales
In their hometown in Ireland, thirteen-year-old Colton and his best friend Jade spend their free time investigating a local urban legend about an old abandoned house which seems to be genuinely haunted. At the same time, Colton has developed a crush on American foreign exchange student, Dylan, who is visiting his aunt. Turns out, Dylan isn’t your average American kid--he's a werewolf. When Dylan's aunt disappears through a portal inside the house Colton and Jade have been investigating, the three of them set out to save her from the magical realm on the other side of the doorway.

“I have loved haunted houses for as long as I can remember,” recounts Bentley-Tales. “When I was kid I was hooked on the Scooby crew who were always going into haunted castles, houses, amusement parks, museums. Heck, you name it, it was haunted!” These sweet-scary childhood memories fueled Bentley-Tales’ storytelling in this book, his first YA horror story. And certainly, developing the story through the eyes of a young gay boy allowed the author to offer a special, inclusive point of view. And while masterfully creating tension and fear through the dark fantasy conflict, the navigation of young love is another great strength Bentley-Tales displays. “There’s a part in the story where Erin wants to make Colton jealous by telling him how much attention Dylan is giving her. I get a good chuckle when I re-read it, as it’s such a typical young love triangle!”Author Website: http://brycebentleytales.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/YALGBTauthor/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/rotville?lang=enEnter to win 5 paperbacks! The Slasher Experience II by C.P. Bialois
Survival often comes down to those who are willing to do what is necessary to win.
It’s a simple concept, but one most never have to experience.
Few survived the Slasher House Massacre, and as their ordeal closes, another opens for those remaining.
The police think they have everything under control. They think everyone is accounted for, but when some of their own disappear, new horrors are discovered, and the nearby town of Tarken’s Glen are drawn into their own survival experience.
My Thoughts
Luke is at it again in the horrific second installment of The Slasher Experience. The evil spirit who wiped out an entire camp has now taken possession of one the local police, and he's out for blood again. However, this time there is a demon slayer on this trail, so things may not be as easy as he expected. He also has a strange psychic condition with Casi, one of the lone survivors of the original massacre. It's an inconvenience, but it doesn't stop Luke from bathing Tarken's Glen in blood.
This was an awesome sequel to a great horror series. I really enjoyed the added dimension of having someone hunting the killer. As with the first book, there are many unique death scenes that will bring to mind some of the greatest slasher films of the 80s. Each character also has a lot of depth, and you will feel for them when they meet their end, even if you only knew them for a few pages. The ending left us with the possibility of seeing another book in the future, and I can't wait to see what direction the author takes it next.
