In Perfect Harmony Soundtrack - Jersey Girls Book 2

Book two of the Jersey Girls series is about finding that perfect harmony, so music is a huge part of the story. Our hero is a musician so he’ll be singing a few covers and even writes a parody of Escape for Erin. So without further ado, here are the songs that helped this book find its rhythm.

1)      Everything Has Changed -  Taylor Swift
2)      Under the Boardwalk – John Mellencamp
3)      Bubbly – Colbie Caillat
4)      American Pie – Don McLean
5)      Red, Red Wine – UB40
6)      If You’re Not the One – Daniel Bedingford
7)      Escape (The Pina Colada Song) -  Rupert Holmes
8) Me and My Broken Heart - Rixton

Here is a little more about this title:

Erin Conway swore off men completely after her last boyfriend left her to raise a child alone.

Ravi Dawes is a musician running from the grief that nearly destroyed him.

When the two meet on an internet dating site, sparks fly and they both believe they've found the perfect match. Unfortunately, Erin’s influential family doesn’t approve of Ravi or his career. And Ravi knows his shady past could destroy their relationship before it begins.

Can two people whose lives are marred by sorrow and regret find healing in each other’s arms? Or will the past sour their perfect harmony?

Short Story Review : The Rape of Persephone by Elizabeth Schechter

In ancient times, when the Gods walked the world, the God of the Underworld kidnapped a girl named Persephone. He carried her off to the Realm of the Dead and through trickery, forced her to remain with him and become his Queen.

Everyone knows the story.

Or do they?

My Thoughts

I've always been a huge fan of Greek mythology.  I love the original versions, but I also enjoy when an author retells a story in a completely different way.  The Rape of Persephone does just that. It takes the story of Haides and Persephone, and gives it an original spin, right down to a new take on the spelling of the Lord of the Underworld's name!

The story is told from the perspective of Haides. While lying in a field and enjoying a spring day, Persephone approaches him, and let's just say, she's not as innocent as the original legends portray her.  I enjoyed seeing a darker side to his normally light demi-goddess. Even more, I liked seeing Haides emerge the hero instead of the villain for once.  This short story is a fun, quick read that will have your rethinking a legend you thought you knew.

Scrooged - A Dark Musicals Holiday Novella - Only $.99!

Lots of people have emailed me to ask what happens to Justyn and Becca in the future. Would they make it to Broadway? Would they live happily ever after? In Scrooged, you will get a glimpse into their future, and see some old friends--and villains--you thought were gone for good.

Stan Hope never cared much for his son-in-law—Justin Patko.

His black clothes and body piercings were bad enough, but the ridiculous notion of dragging Rebecca off to Broadway with a new baby on the way pushes Stan over the edge. How much can a father take?

After losing his cool at a holiday party, Stan gets a visit from three unexpected spirits. Can they help to change his close-minded ways? Or will he lose his only child forever?

Available on Amazon for only $.99.

Spoiler Alert - Don't read this unless you finished the first three books in the series! If you missed them, now is a great time to catch up! All three books are on sale for the holidays!

Phantom: $.99           Demon: $2.99         Hyde : $2.99

A Tour of Cape May County with The Jersey Girls

The Jersey Girl series is set in my home town and the characters stop to visit a lot of my favorite places. From nature trails to the hottest bar in the Wildwoods (in my opinion), you can read about what the locals like to do at the Jersey Shore. Listed below are just a few of the places in Cape May County where the girls will stop to visit.

Wildwood Boardwalk
Wildwood boasts one of the best boardwalks in the USA and Lainey is ready to show it off in Falling Star. She coerces Drew unto a few rides, despite his fear of heights, including a Sling Shot, whose name speaks for itself.  They also make pit stops at the giant Ferris wheel and the roller coaster.

Lainey’s Condo
This building is the inspiration for the condo where Lainey resides. It’s right on the beach in Wildwood and just down the street from where I grew up.

Woody’s
Woody’s is a bar in North Wildwood owned by my friend Trevor. We went to high school together and later reconnected when I dated a musician who played there. Woody’s is the main hangout for the Jersey girls in every book, but will play an especially large role in In Perfect Harmony when Ravi and Erin meet there.

The Hot Spot
The Hot Spot has been a trusted Wildwood tradition for more than fifty years.  Today it’s run by my friend and former schoolmate, Haroula.  A visit to the Wildwood boardwalk wouldn’t be complete without a gyro from the Hot Spot!

The Concrete Ship
The concrete ship was formally an experimental war vessel. In 1926, it ran aground after a big storm and has been a tourist attraction ever since.

Cape May Point State Park
This is one of my favorite spots in all of Cape May County, especially in the off season when there are no tourists around. I can spend hours wandering the trails of wetlands that lead right out to the ocean. It also boasts a pretty impressive lighthouse and has a little museum.

To learn more about what Cape May County has to offer and see what life at the shore is really like, check out the Jersey Girl series today.

Drew DiPalma feels like he’s living a lie. He’s had it with his Hollywood persona, the high-maintenance women, and his sleazy agent.  To escape the madness, he flees to a tourist town he’d often visited as a child. He never expected to find love on that little island. Then he stumbles upon Lainey alone on the swing set of a deserted beach.
After a dozen internet dating disasters, Lainey Riccardo has given up on romance—until she meets a West Coast hunk who has no trouble winning her heart.  But Lainey only knows him as Drew, not the Oscar-nominated actor who’s constantly scandalized in the tabloids. When she learns the truth, will the small town Jersey girl be able to accept Drew’s fast-paced life? Or will the truth drive her away forever?

The Jersey Girls series has a musical theme. In each book, there will be at least one karaoke performance. All my Jersey girls have eclectic taste, so there will be a diverse selection of artists in each one, though Pink seems to be one of their favorites. J  This is the list of songs that would go on the Falling Star soundtrack and they were playing in my head the whole time I was writing it. Some are actually mentioned by name in the book, and some just fit the storyline.   So sit back and enjoy the music!

1)      Lucky - Brittany Spears
2)      I’m Like A  Bird – Nelly Fertado
3)      Respect – Pink
4)      Smile – Uncle Cracker
5)      Take A Bow – Madonna
6)      Look What You’ve Done – Jet
7)      Like We Never Loved At All – Faith Hill
