A few weeks ago, the beautiful and talented Magaly Guerrero hosted a giveaway of my novel, Phantom, as part of her Sexy, Dark, and Bloody Fiction Party. Stacy, owner of the Magic Love Crow etsy shop, was the lucky winner of the prize pack.  When I saw she had an Etsy shop, of course I had to take a peek, and I discovered that Stacy is an amazing artist. When I saw the theme of her original paintings, I had to ask her to be a pat of the Destiny Unveiled release party. I know she paints crows and not ravens, but technically they are related, and her little crows are just too cute to pass up.

There is a very interesting story behind why Stacy began her career as an artist. After a near death experience in 2007, she decided she needed to paint her crows. She had never painted before, but she went with the feeling, and Magic Love Crow was created. Her crows capture the essence of magic, be it the fantasy of fairy tales or the spirit of the native American culture. You can find playful crows, hippie crows, spiritual crows, Goddess crows and so much more.

For our giveaway, Stacy decided to create a crow painting inspired by my book cover. She used the same red and black color scheme,  and made the witch crow carry a wand as she casts her spell. She even has long black hair, just like my heroine, Gabriella. I can definitely see this little crow being Gabby's personal totem. Together, Stacy and I decided to name the painting after my novel.  So it is officially titled "Destiny Unveiled".

Destiny Unveiled Release Party! Win a "The Carrion Tree" Print by Painter Ash Evans

A few days ago, I posted a giveaway for a beautiful Celtic raven print created by Brigid Ashwood. The print that caught my eye right away, was The Carrion Tree, because of course, as you all know, I have a thing for ravens.  Most of the  fantasy art created by Ash is whimsical and bright, but this piece is a little on the darker side. The artist summed up this picture best in her own words by saying, "The Carrion Tree" Is a very personal piece for me. The tree represents me as an artist and the ravens are the things in the business that tend to eat away at you over time. I really like how it turned out!"  I love how it turned out as well, and I can see the same analogy fitting into many business and personal situations. We all have the ability to pull strength from the earth, like a tree with its roots. But its also easy to allow the little parasites of life eat away at us.

One of my favorite towns in my county is Victorian Cape May. Its been a vacation spot since back in the early 1800's. The beautiful Victorian homes have stood the test of time, and stand regal and splendid as they look out over the vastness of the ocean. Because of our history, we are steeped in Victorian culture from the reinactment plays to the ghost tours. Just looking at this beautiful candle, you can almost hear the sound of his caw, whispering, "Never more." As a writer of fantasy, I often find inspiration in the beautiful artwork of others. I have a little corner in my room that is my workspace. Its where I hand write the first draft of all my books. In that corner, I have all my favorite statues, carvings, crystals, and art prints of all things mystical including Goddesses, Gods, elves, and  whimsical fairies. The beautiful art prints by Brigid Ashwood Art & Designs would certainly make a wonderful addition to my collection. This is the type of art work that will make any one's imagination soar.

The thing that initially attracted me Brigid's etsy shop, was her Celtic designs. Of course this would appeal to me as a Celtic Wiccan, and its especially interesting now that I am just finishing up a new book that tries into Celtic traditions. One of my favorite pieces is her rendition of the Green Man, which would be a great addition to any Beltane altar. Of course, the fairy prints would be fitting as well. All of Brigid's art  is so incredibly detailed. The eyes of the Greenman feel like they are studying you, and the fairy's wings really seem to shimmer. These two prints are definitely pleasant reminders that spring and the rebirth it brings are never far away.

Divination is a  popular practice in Wicca, but its known is many other religions and cultures as well. There are many ways to divine the future. You can use tarot cards, Ouija boards, or scrying bowels. But one of my favorite forms of divination has always been the pendulum.
