Book Spotlight & Release Day Giveaway! The Cliff by Christie A.C. Gucker
Can a childhood pact affect the lives of three adults?
Love and betrayal surrounds the lives of lifelong friends Lanie Rhodes, Grant Bennett, and Dane Voight. Years ago, they made a pact to remain together as friends forever. The boys also made another secret pact that same day—to never vie for Lanie’s love.
Grant and Lanie have secretly been pining for one another since they were children.
Now grown up, they finally admit their feelings for each other and what ensues is a twisted tale of deception as Dane does everything he can to stop them.
The story weaves around this uneven love triangle. What will happen to the pact? Will friendships be destroyed? Will lovers emerge?
Bio: Christie A.C. Gucker lives in NJ with her husband, two daughters and a menagerie of pets. Being a mother is one of the greatest joys of her life. She has worked in the advertising industry for over 20 years as a degreed artist, but also works in the fine arts, especially sculpting out of stone or snapping photographs. Christie is also a singer and musician, and can be found singing on a few CDs.
After the death of her father, Christie searched for something to fill her desire to make a mark in this world. Her love of the arts and creativity allowed her to search for a new medium, which she found with a pen instead of a brush. Being an avid reader her whole life, and with her family cheering her on, she decided to take her shot, and began writing.
Christie is fascinated by the supernatural and sharks, and studies both avidly. You’ll be sure to find something spooky lurking somewhere in her stories. Her greatest joy is sitting on a beach with her family while surf fishing, flying kites or building sandcastles with her girls.

Jennifer Malone Wright
Jennifer Malone Wright resides in the
beautiful mountains of northern Idaho with her husband and five children.
Between the craziness of taking care of her children, whose ages range from
fourteen all the way down to six months, and being a homemaker, Jennifer has
little time left for herself. The time she does have left, usually leading far
into the night, is spent working on freelance work or her beloved fiction.
When she grew up, Jennifer always had her
nose in a book. She has been writing stories and poems since grade school. This
love of the written word and her strong interest in the paranormal is what has
led to her first novel “The Birth of Jaiden.”
In addition to being a mother and homemaker,
Jennifer is also a very proud military wife. Moving around the country for the
last ten years has made her a bit of a nomad and she finds it difficult to be
in one place for too long.
Jennifer is also the author of The Birth of
Jaiden, a paranormal novel filled with action, suspense, and even a love story.

Excerpt:
I took the first book
off the stack and examined the cover. It was titled Vampires throughout
History. The cover was leather and so old it was stiff and cracked in
spots. The pages showed signs of age too, yellowing and stiff to the touch.
There was no table of contents, so it looked like I was going to have to scan
the entire book for what I was wanting. I flipped the pages carefully, so as
not to tear any of them.
After an hour of
scanning and about half way through the book, I found something referring to
vampire children.
~~~
Although extremely
rare, the natural-born offspring of vampires exist throughout the world. These
rare beings are called the dhampir. Dhampir are usually the product of a
vampire and mortal. The most common of these unions is a male vampire
impregnating a mortal woman. Vampires, both male and female, are seductive in
nature and some mortals came willingly to these unions. However, the majority of
dhampir born were produced through an act of rape.
Solitary by nature,
it is uncommon for a vampire to settle with any one mate for long. The children
of vampires, the dhampir, more often than not exhibit all the characteristics
of their vampire parent. The strength, speed and agility are the usual
hereditary traits that the children develop. They are not always born with
these traits but develop them as they grow into adulthood.
The dhampir are day
walkers. Some of these children are sensitive to the sunlight but will not
perish in the direct rays. Most have no sensitivity at all. Drinking the fresh
blood of mortals is also not usually required of the dhampir; however, some
have a liking for it. Very few actually need it to survive.
Most dhampir are
rejected by the vampire species because of their mortality and weaknesses.
Mortals often reject the dhampir, as well, due to their vampirism, so they
frequently remain outcast.
Dhampir are known
for becoming vampire killers. Their closeness to the vampires and their vampire
characteristics make them powerful vampire hunters. The unique ability to track
and kill vampires is specific to only the dhampir and the mythological race of
vampire hunters.
Historically,
dhampir became vampire hunters as a trade. Towns and villages became plagued by
vampires who were terrorizing their homes and killing their people. The dhampir
accepted contracts in exchange for monetary payment and used their likeness to
their vampire counterparts to exterminate the vampires.
~~~
Holy crap, that was a lot to process.
The more I read the passages, the more I understood that my being a hunter was
more than my heritage; it was my history and my future. Everything about my
bloodlines had hunters involved.

Spotlight: Love Kinection by Jennifer James
Love, romance,
hearts, flowers ,cupid…. Rubbish.
Abby Fine still hasn’t gotten over the pain of a year-old
betrayal and plans to spend this Valentine’s Day drowning her sorrows with a
ménage of men named Ben, Jerry, and Riesling.
Her plans are diverted when she drops and breaks her new
iPhone and gives in to a momentary hormone surge, agreeing to let office hottie
and tech god Tom Walker squirm his way into her condo to fix it.
Tom shows up with his Xbox, spicy Chinese food, and a habit
of stealing kisses every time she lets her guard down.
Can a weekend of laughter, videogames, and movies change
Abby’s opinion of stupid Cupid?
About the Author:
For a girl whose first book was called “The Scariest Forest
Ever,” the jump to romance may seem to be a far one. But a love of happy
endings and the stories she kept making up in her head for strangers on the
street lead to an unhealthy amount of time spent behind the keyboard typing
away and giggling mischievously over sassy heroines, sexy heroes, and healthy
sprinklings of geek humor.
With time split between a day job staring at teeth, two
little girls, college courses, workaholic husband, and too many voices in her
head, Jennifer still finds time to sneak off and devour all the books she can
find – even if it means hiding in the closet to read them.
She insists on her jokes being dirty, drinks spiked, and
tattoos placed in intriguing, muscular places you can only find when the
clothes come off.
Excerpt:
His hands crossed the gap between our bodies and rested on
my hips. Backing away would be the smart
thing to do. But hope filled my belly he’d kiss me again. The stupid part of my
brain had taken control again, and I didn’t fight it. I wanted a real kiss. “So
if you are in fact the geekier geek, what do I get as a forfeit?” he asked.
The shadow of stubble covered his chin and his upper lip,
ran up to the short sideburns he wore. His ears begged to be nibbled on. What
would that stubble feel like brushed against my skin? Dangerous thoughts,
especially since my hands had somehow ended up on his waist and my fingers
clenched his shirt. I looked at his arms, still surprised by the size of
muscles when they flexed. If the biceps were any indicator of the body hidden
under the cloth, it broke the mold of a stereotypical geek’s.
“Forfeit?”
“Yeah. You know, like a prize.”
“I think you already got a forfeit. You got to see me
naked.” And all I’ve gotten is a few stolen kisses.
“That was an accident.” He grew hard against my belly. It
pleased me to wonder what direction his thoughts had gone. I wondered if ice
cream intoxication existed. “How about sex in my truck?”
“No. Car sex isn’t really comfortable. And who said anything
about sex?”
“A man can hope. Besides, I know you’ve thought about it.”
“Have not.”
“Have, too.”
“Shut up and kiss me.”
He shook his head. “I promised to behave. You kiss me.”

Book Spotlight: Drive Back Darkness by Amy M. Newman

Ellie reluctantly
faces the impossible tasks confronting her; like learning to control the magic
that now roars through her and burns everything she touches, training to become

attracted to, is actually one of the assassins sent by Morfan to kill her.
Devin has a troubled
past; he has spent the last five years tracking the person who murdered his
family. He is dark, dangerous, and deadly serious, but Ellie can see the core
of kindness shining deep within him, as well as the fear of getting hurt again
that makes him push people away. Though Ellie knows her life might be at stake,
she can’t seem to stay away from him, even as her feelings become strong enough
that they begin to scare her.
Vance, the second
assassin and Devin’s best friend, is the opposite of Devin; blonde, charming,
seductive. But his heart holds a kernel of darkness, one that makes him
dangerously unstable, especially after he realizes that he has feelings for
Ellie, feelings he knows Ellie doesn’t share.
Ellie can’t let her
emotions for the two men cloud her focus, her quest to remove Morfan from
power. When Ellie discovers that the children of Alladon have been
imprisoned in a secret factory, Ellie knows she can’t fight her destiny any
longer. She must claim her rightful place as princess and fight Morfan, or
surrender and be slaughtered. Will she be able to survive long enough to save
her people from the Darkness?
