Book Review: Trembling Souls by Jamie White
As the nightmares that haunted her a year ago return, Fiona Stevens wonders if she is destined for anything more than pain.
Fiona and her boyfriend, Ted Richards, are enjoying their new lives in college when the dreams reemerge. Shaken, she brushes them off but it soon becomes clear that someone she trusts knows about the lives she has tried so hard to forget.
Someone that wants her dead.
Ted suspects there is more going on than he is being told, but Fiona tells him she is fine. As he prepares for a break from school, he can’t shake the feeling that he’ll never see her again. A frantic call confirms his suspicions.
Can Ted save Fiona or is he destined to lose her again?
My Thoughts
Trembling Souls is the second novella in the Stains series. In this installment, Fiona is still struggling with memories of a past life. Her dreams send her messages from the past, and she watches herself die violently again and again. Ted is Fiona's soul mate who has had to watch her die in every life since she was burned as a witch, and he worries he's going to lose her again. Can these star-crossed lovers finally find happiness, or will fate tear them apart again?
I really enjoyed this second book in the Stains series. Throughout the story, Fiona receives subtle threats that gradually get more intense, and they left me biting my nails every time. When the culprit was revealed, I was floored. The ending left us with a hint of more to come, so I can't wait to see what the third installment has in store for us.
