Book Review - Bulled Over by Catalina Ferrer

What happens when in a weird twist of fate--or karma--the bullfighter becomes the bull?

Conchita Peron, a bullfighter still trying to earn respect in a male-dominated profession, vows to kill Asesino, the bull that took her father's life. But what she doesn't know--and may not realize in time--is within the bull's body resides the soul of the man she once and still desires...that of the very handsome and very dead matador Antonio de le Vega.

Will she set aside her thirst for revenge in time to see the heart under the hide?

My Thoughts

If you read Bulled Over, be prepared for a new whole version of shape shifting. This is something that's never been done before. Conchita watched the bull Asesino kill both her father and Antonio, the man who might have been her first love if only they had the chance. Filled with a need for vengeance, she has the bull pulled from retirement. If she can slay the bull, she'll not only avenge the deaths of the two men she cared for, but also prove herself in a male dominated profession. The only problem is, a Santeria spell gone wrong trapped Antonio's spirit within the body of the bull. If she kill Aseino, she'll be slaying the very man who held her heart.

Bulled Over is a unique, never-before take on the paranormal genre filled with both action and a little steamy romance. The characters are well-developed and  easy to relate to. The bull fighting scenes were especially well-done and well researched. The author was able to handle this touchy subject with respect for the age-old tradition and with empathy for the animal and all it suffers. Bulled Over is a quick read that has it all--historical accuracy, paranormal elements, and a sexy matador. What more can you ask for?
