My Thoughts

Her Virtue is a Phantom of the Opera retelling with a very unique twist. In this story, Christine has been defiled and suffers a horrible loss. When all seems lost, Erik whisks her away to safety. He'll do whatever it takes to keep her safe, even if it means having to kill. Together they learn to care for each other and heal each other, both physically and emotionally. 

This phantom of the opera tale offers an erotic twist on the original the with lots of steamy scenes between Christine and the Erik. I also love the painstaking detail with which the author describes the phantom's deformity. It really brings the character to life on the page. Phans everywhere are sure to love this addition to phantom lore.

My Thoughts

The Pathbreaker is an exciting novel that centers around a women named Hannah Jones. She's a struggling actress and author trying to break out in her industry. While she has a steady income from her role as an extra in a popular soap opera, she lives with the constant fear of what will happen if the series ends. Although romance isn't her top priority, Christopher, a friend from her local theater becomes her champion after she is brutally attacked. Hannah isn't sure who to trust, but she has to figure out why she's being targeted before it's too late. 

In addition to being an exiting thriller with a healthy side of romance, this novel also gives readers up close and personal look at living life with high functioning autism. Hannah is diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome and this leads to struggles with finding a job that's right for her. All these different elements converge to make this novel impossible to put down.

Heart of a Thespian by Emma Kathryn

My Thoughts

In Heart of a Thespian, a young girl named Tessa finds herself alone in a seashore town.  At her lowest moment, a magician named Tony helps her find her way in a new town. Despite the scandal of being involved with a theatre person, Tess finds herself drawn to the handsome older man who always wears a mask. Then, another man named Riley stumbles upon Tess. Rich and handsome, he tries to woo her away from Tony. She's torn in two directions, and to add to the suspense, she finds herself in the midst of a mysterious theft. While Tessa's heart leans toward Tony, she worries about what people will think of her if she chooses a life on the stage. Will Tessa choose Tony or Riley? Will she get drawn in a crime? You'll have to read the book yourself to find out.

I thoroughly enjoyed this historical novel. As a fan of the Phantom of the Opera, its impossible not to draw a parallel between Tony and Erik, but make no mistake, this is not a retelling. This is a unique story line with a heroine who doesn't hide behind her skirts and a hero with debonair charm. I loved the tenderness Tessa shows Tony in regards to his deformity, but I also enjoyed the passion. Overall, this was a fantastic novel that provides a tender love story with a few steamy moments, and an accurate view of life on the stage in the Victorian era.

The Slasher Experience III: Into the Breach by CP Bialois

Scars are the road map to the soul, both physical and mental.

Over the course of three days, thirty-five people were slain, their bodies spread over the Millersville campgrounds, the neighboring town of Tarken’s Glen, and the woods between them.

Ten days later, the remaining police continue their search for evidence as their prime suspect is in custody, awaiting his day in court.

For the survivors of the original Slasher House Massacre living in Raegar’s Mill, life has continued to go on as they try to find their footing. A rift has formed between Casi and Tom Seever, and Zach Schaeffer. Their once close relationship has eroded to the point two of the three have pulled away from everyone they know.

Casi continues seeing visions of Luke Padmore as he continues his rampage, but she’s convinced it’s because of her own trauma and survivor’s guilt, and they slowly fade away. In their wake, Casi turns her attention to those she can help.

During this quiet lull, Luke Padmore once again appears, cutting a path through all those that get in his way as he heads for Raegar’s Mill and Casi.

My Thoughts

Luke Padmore is causing mayhem again in this horrific third installment of The Slasher Experience.  In this installation, Casi is about to be released from the hospital, but she's plagued by dreams of Luke coming after her. Her powers tell her this is more than just a dream, and the spirit of her murdered friend backs up her instincts. Her brother Tom is also struggling, but finds strength in the arms of his older lover, vixen attorney Laura.  The siblings hope to reconnect with their friend Zach and end the murderous rampage once and for all.

This was an awesome closing to a great horror trilogy. As with the first two books, there are many unique death scenes that will bring to mind some of the greatest slasher films of the 80s. There were even a few scenes that got me emotional because I've gotten rather attached to some of these characters.  The ending brought with it a shocking reveal I wasn't expecting. Despite all the carnage, it is a satisfying ending with a possibility of more to come in the future.

Toll the Bell: A Titanic Adventure by CP Bialois

My Thoughts

In Toll the Bell, Thomas Clayton is a hit man with a dark past given the impossible mission of killing his only friend. He's already struggling with the task, and things only get more complicated when he meets a woman. While he finds her tantalizing, there's also something suspicious about her. Unsure who he can trust, Clayton must unravel multiple mysteries before the ship reaches the port.

Toll the Bell is a amazing story that merges history and an exciting mystery. The elements of the crime are multi-layered and weave a tale of intrigue. The historical elements are well researched and will make you feel as if you are walking along the deck of the long lost ship. This is a story that crosses many genres and will please fans who enjoy historical novels, romances, and mysteries.

Challenging Me (Lightworker Series Book 7) by Jamie White

It was supposed to be an easy job. Courtney and Santiago Martinez are charged with keeping watch over a young woman who’s close to inheriting the special gifts of their people, a task meant to avoid the betrayals that cost her and their people so much. The sudden disappearance of their charge complicates things, and leaves Courtney with a sense of guilt and responsibility she can’t shake at a time when she’s already weakened by what she fears is a new attack on her personally.

Things get worse as one by one, people disappear under seemingly mundane circumstances that lead them to believe their enemies have a new plan to destroy them. Will Courtney manage to fight through this latest setback to find the missing people, or will their people finally face defeat?

My Thoughts

In the seventh book in the Lightworker series, Courtney and are husband are watching out for the next generation of Ligthtworkers who are waiting for their powers to develop. The problem is, the bad guys want them, too. If they capture the teens, they could twist their minds, teaching them to use their powers for evil. When one of their charges goes missing, Courtney hopes to grow her abilities in order to find her. She also fears that she and her sister are under attack, so the two of them join forces to combat the evil forces trying to take them down.

This has been one of my favorite paranormal series in a long time. It's a really unique take on Lighworkers and the supernatural elements are enthralling. The interaction between the characters is great and I've enjoyed the progression of Courtney's personality as she grew from a teenager to a woman with a husband and adult responsibilities.  This is the most recent edition of the Lightworker series, and now that I'm all caught up, I will have to wait impatiently for the author to release the next one. 

Confronting Me (Lightworker Series Book 6) by Jamie White

Years ago, Abigail Flores was forced to leave behind everything she'd known after a reckless decision made her family fear for her future. Since then, she's worked hard to put her past, and the reputation she earned, behind her. When she suddenly comes face-to-face with a person from that past, she finds herself falling into some old habits that might just leave her vulnerable to more than a broken heart.

Meanwhile, Courtney's been assigned to help protect a young woman with a gift that the enemy doesn't want her using. While the physical danger is real, Courtney believes that there's a more pressing threat to her charges' safety. 

Will Abigail's moment of weakness put more than herself in danger? Will Courtney be able to save her charge from herself?


My Thoughts

In the sixth book in the Lightworker Series, we see a lot of focus on Abigail, Courtney's twin sister. She's dealing with a difficult decision she made it the past. She's sent to live in America  with her brother, but only finds herself in deeper waters. It turns out many of the people she trusted were only spying on her to see if she inherited her parent's abilities. Meanwhile, Santiago and Courtney also get some action. They are tasked with protecting a powerful physic named Fiona. Their rivals hope to use for gifts their own dark purposes. 

This was another awesome chapter in the Lightworker series. One of the best parts of this book for me is a crossover between this series and the author's Stains series. Stains are the novels that introduced me to this author's work, and seeing both of these amazing stories merged so flawlessly added a whole new dimension. Don't worry if you didn't read that series, though. This story-line flow seamlessly whether you are familiar with Fiona's history or not.  There is lots of action and I enjoyed getting the backstory on Abigail because it makes her an even more relatable character. Now, on to Book 7!

Defining Me (Lightworker Series Book 5)

Four years after surviving another attack from her enemies, Courtney Thompson has found peace. She’s engaged to her boyfriend, Santiago, and living her dream of being a professional actress.

Despite her love of the stage, Courtney feels a pull toward her past and the work she’s avoided. When she announces her decision to return and her intention to work with him, Santiago becomes evasive and tries to talk her out of it. His behavior worries her and makes her think she’s marrying a stranger. When she presses the issue, he makes a startling confession that will change the course of her life yet again.

Abigail Flores is a young woman who hates being watched and keeps some questionable company. When one of her clients makes an unusual request, Abigail gets far more than she planned. Suddenly in the middle of a war between good and evil, Abigail has to decide who she’ll align with.

Will Courtney be able to handle the secret Santiago’s been keeping from her? Can Santiago get Abigail on their side, or will the enemy win?

My Thoughts


Courtney has been through a lot in the last few years, but things are finally starting to settle down. Her relationship with Santiago is going really well, and her acting career is taking off.  She also decides to follow in her parent's footsteps and use her powers to help people. Just when everything seems perfect, her fiance starts acting strange and Courtney fears he's keeping secrets from her. She learns he's doing some work of his own, and in order for her to take part, she has to pass a series of tests.  While Courtney is pulled into the challenges of her new work, she also discovers a shocking family secret. 

This was another awesome installment of the Lightworker series with a shocking twist I never saw coming. This series is thrilling and filled with unique paranormal aspects, but I also love the very human growth I've seen in Courtney as the series progressed. She started out as a confused teen, but now we see her coming into her own and growing into a strong woman.  I'm moving on to Book 6 and I'm excited to see what new events will rock Courtney's world!

Short Film Review: Kadupul

After surviving a physical assault in her freshman year, college sophomore Klarissa Bloom, finds the strength to identify not with the violence she suffered, but with her passion for dance.

My Thoughts

This short film takes us through the aftermath of sexual assault as a young college student tries to come to terms with what was done to her. We also see the struggle of her best friend, the would-be boyfriend who might've prevented it if he had shared his feelings sooner, and the person who introduced her to the perpetrator. This unique take on the issue shows us the ripple effect assault can have, not only for the victim, but for those around them who deal with the guilt of failing to prevent it.

While all the performances in this indie film were all outstanding, I was especially impressed with the acting abilities of leading lady Briana R. Jordan. Her portrayal of an assault victim was realistic and heart wrenching. Yet, the story still has, if not a happy ending, a hint of hope and healing. Through the dance, Klarissa begins to heal. This emotion is conveyed beautifully through the graceful movements of the actors/dancers.  It teaches us that there is hope beyond the pain, and oftentimes, art is the road that leads us to healing.

Trinity by CP Bialois

My Thoughts

Trinity is the story of three friends -- friends with benefits. Madison and Mimi are best friends who are also sort of a couple. They've been living together for awhile, but Madison's mother isn't happy with the arrangement. In fact, she's unhappy with all of Madison's life choices. Living with her mother's negativity has led to panic attacks which only worsen when tragedy strikes. Mimi is worried about Madison and decides they need some back up.  A handsome young EMT named Adrian moves in, and Mimi hopes adding him to the mix will help Madison come to terms with her grief and give her the strength to let go of her anxiety.

This book was a lot of fun and a unique take on polyamory. There are some really hot, steamy scenes between the three characters. However, this book is more than simply an erotica. There are many touching moments as well. Madison's partners support her through tragedy and her anxiety. The issue of mental health is handled with respect and realism. The characters are all very likable and you'll find yourself routing for them to make it work. I'm looking forward to seeing where the next book in the series takes us.

Reclaiming Me (Lightworker Series Book 4) by Jamie White

After spending the majority of her 18th year being treated for a mental breakdown, and having confronted the person responsible for all the pain she’d been through over the past year, Courtney Thompson is now taking her first steps to getting her life back – she’s back in school, getting involved in the drama department again, and forming some friendships.

On top of the changes in her life, Courtney’s being called to make a decision about her fledgling relationship with Santiago Martinez, a man who works with the people who helped her through the past year. She’s falling fast, but she isn’t sure that’s a good thing. His work terrifies her, and she fears dealing with more heartbreak.

My Thoughts


In Reclaiming Me, Book 4 of the Lightworker Series, Courtney is recovering from a serious mental breakdown, but she's ready to return to the world. She enrolls in school and returns to her love of the theater.  There are also sparks flying between her and fellow Lightworker Santiago, but she's nervous about getting involved with another man after the disastrous end to her last relationship. Things seem to be going well until Courtney is snatched by villains who want to destroy everything that she is. Can the other Lightworkers save her in time or is she destined to fall back into despair and possibly lose herself forever?

This installment of the Lightworker Series was even more thrilling than the last. You really feel Courtney's inner struggle as she tries to rebuild herself, and I especially related to her fear of loving again after losing her first love so tragically.  The action packed finale left had me biting my nails, but the epilogue will leave you with a feeling a hope.  Now it's on to book 5 in a series I hope will never come to an end!

My Thoughts

The Divination Handbook is a beginner's guide to a variety of different divination tools. It covers a wide range of topics including crystals, tarot cards, runes, tea, palmistry, and numerology. Each section gives you just enough information to do a complete and detailed reading. It touched on all the major points that you'll need. For example, the book gives you a brief description of what each rune and tarot card mean, as well as multiple spread options. For the palmistry, there are detailed graphs showing you how to read the different lines of the palm. This is one area of divination I haven't tried yet, and I loved how easy the directions were to follow.

This is an amazing book. I have other books that cover most of these topics, but it's nice to have one reference guide that covers everything. I also liked how they are so easy to follow. This is a great starter book or my teen daughter, who is just beginning to delve into divination. I personally have over a decade of experience, but still found the book a useful quick reference guide for old favorites, and a great way to delve into a few new practices as well. This is one book that will have a permanent place on my coffee table.

Rebuilding Me (Lightworker Series Book 3) by Jamie White

The second book in the Lightworker Series left us with a startling revelation that left Courtney's world in a shambles. In Book 3, she is still fighting to recover from the horrors she's been forced to endure. Terrifying dreams haunt her nights and make her unable to forget the past, and she becomes consumed by grief and guilt. Because of her fragile mental state, the organization she's working for has been forced to monitor her and bind her powers. Filled with fear and belligerence, Courtney is ready to walk away from everything, until she meets another powerful Lightworker named Santiago Martinez. He is drawn to her and longs to heal her wounds, but will his love be enough to put the pieces of Courtney's fragile mind back together?

 The Lightworker Series just keeps getting better. In this installment, you really feel for Courtney and her inner turmoil as she tries to overcome her grief. Once she meets Santiago, you route for him to get through to her and help heal her wounds. Maybe she will even get a second chance at love. Exploring Me (Lightworker Series Book 2) by Jamie White

My Thoughts

In Exploring Me, Book 2 of the Lightworker Series, Courtney Thompson is trying to move on with her life after discovering she was adopted and that her biological parents had a rather unconventional history.  Thinking she killed her cousin in self-defense, she distances herself from her adoptive family. Instead, she explores the world her real parents came from with less than stellar results. Even worse, it turns out her enemy isn't dead after all, and they are using someone else Courtney loves as leverage to get to her. This second book leaves you hanging with Courtney on the verge of a psychic break after going through horrors no young girl should have to experience.

The second book is the Lightworker Series is just as enthralling as the first. It delves deeper into the secrets of Courtney's past and brings to light horrible truths that will push her to the edge.  I'm ready to dive into Book 3, Rebuilding Me. I am cheering Courtney on as she discovers into the unknown world of the paranormal and tries to find her place in it.

Learning Me (Lightworker Series Book 1) by Jamie White

My Thoughts

Courtney has been dealing with overprotective parents most of her life. They wouldn't let her be featured in the local paper when she won a spelling bee, and they hate her goal of becoming an actress. While they let her join the drama club, they draw the line at trying out for a film. Frustrated, Courtney sets out to find out why her parents won't encourage her dreams. After exploring the dusty attic, she thinks she might have discovered the truth, but there's way more to this mystery than she ever imagined. She finds herself on a the beginning of a journey that will lead to self-discovery and a hint of the paranormal. 

This first book int he Lightworker Series will have you glued to your seat from beginning to end. The author unwinds a stunning mystery. Just when you think you have it figured out, there is a curve ball that will leave you even more surprised. The book ends in a cliffhanger, but don't worry, because book 2, Exploring Me is available now. 

The Slasher Experience II by C.P. Bialois

Survival often comes down to those who are willing to do what is necessary to win.

It’s a simple concept, but one most never have to experience.

My Thoughts

Luke is at it again in the horrific second installment of The Slasher Experience. The evil spirit who wiped out an entire camp has now taken possession of one the local police, and he's out for blood again. However, this time there is a demon slayer on this trail, so things may not be as easy as he expected. He also has a strange psychic condition with Casi, one of the lone survivors of the original massacre. It's an inconvenience, but it doesn't stop Luke from bathing Tarken's Glen in blood.

This was an awesome sequel to a great horror series. I really enjoyed the added dimension of having someone hunting the killer. As with the first book, there are many unique death scenes that will bring to mind some of the greatest slasher films of the 80s. Each character also has a lot of depth, and you will feel for them when they meet their end, even if you only knew them for a few pages. The ending left us with the possibility of seeing another book in the future, and I can't wait to see what direction the author takes it next.

The Slasher Experience by CP Bialois

The Slasher Experience centers around a group of teens who head out for what is supposed to be a fun weekend. They purchased tickets to a campground hosting an exciting event where they can live out scenes from their favorite slasher film. The only problem is, someone is bringing the game to life, and the bodies piling up aren't movie props. With campers dropping like flies, it's hard to guess who the real killer might be. Even Casi, who has some unique physic abilities, doesn't know who to trust as one by one the people around her meet a gruesome end. 

If you're a fan of of the horror genre, you're going to love this book! It flows like an eighties horror movie, and the scenes play out in your mind like a screenplay as you read the vivid imagery. All the characters have depth, even when they are killed in the same chapter where they are introduced. There is also more to it than simply a gruesome gore fest. Though, who doesn't enjoy that? There are also paranormal aspects and elements of mystery. The thrilling conclusion leaves you wanting more. Luckily, Slasher 2 is slated for an October release. I got a sneak peek, and it's just as good as the first. Truly, the Slasher series is horror at it's finest, and has rekindled my fondness for the old cult classics of the eighties.

I’ve been exploring that world unofficially since the first Poltergeist movie, and I haven’t lost that love for the paranormal since— that’s why I write about it.

That’s right, I’m a paranormal fiction writer. 

But what sets me apart from other paranormal fiction writers out there is… I actively explore the fascinating hidden world around us through meditation and other practices, like Reiki and chanting. I also work with crystals. These things are part of my world, both real and fictional, and I love sharing them.

I hope that, much like I felt after reading Christopher Pike’s work, you’ll feel inspired to explore the weird side of life by getting lost in one of my novels.

Who am I? My name’s Jamie White. Aside from being obsessed with all things paranormal and writing about that in my fiction novels I’m also a journalism geek. 

Before following my ultimate obsession into fiction writing I was an editor of multiple college publications, and interned at a major newspaper. You could say words have accompanied me for a long time. 

During leisure times, I would role play Buffy the Vampire Slayer and write song spoofs based on that and other things. The fiction bug was biting, but it really got me when I went to my first writing club meeting on a whim (the lesson? Listen to that inner voice). 

I had some much fun writing that first story, I kept going. And within a year, I had the insane idea to try and write a whole novel in a month. Yes, I was questioning my sanity.

Luckily, the muse was with me and her story, “The Life and Times of No One in Particular,” was born. Since then, I have been published by Pagan Writers Press, had a short featured in an anthology, won a library essay contest, and have several more projects coming, including the re-release of the Stains books and my new Lightworker series. 

On the weird side, I go to crystal classes, chanting classes, give tarot readings, and became a level II Reiki practitioner in February 2015. I'm taking a wild journey, and I'd love for you to join me. Fiction and the unknown? Works for me.

My Thoughts

The Stains series is a thrilling set of novellas that delves into the possibility of reincarnation, soul-mates, and physic abilities. This third installment was amazing, and shows us how the Universe always finds a way to balance out our karma.  It's a fast paced story with characters that are well-developed. The scenes are vivid , and the emotion seeps off the page. Anyone who enjoys a quick paranormal read will definitely love this story.
