Weeping Bones Review

I stumbled across a clip of Weeping Bones on TikTok, and the premise grabbed me enough that I had to look it up. It’s movie‑length, but only available on YouTube and the GoodShort App, and even though its low budget, I'm glad I watched it.

The story centers on Bella, a girl brutally murdered by a man seeking revenge against her detective father and coroner mother. Bella’s ghost watches helplessly as her parents investigate the case, unaware that the victim is their own daughter. As the story unfolds, you also see the complicated family dynamics: the sister who bullied her, the parents who never fully believed her, and the tension created when Bella was reunited with them at sixteen after being kidnapped as a child. They had already adopted another daughter, so her return wasn’t the fairy‑tale homecoming she deserved. I won’t spoil anything beyond that because despite its flaws, this story deserves to be experienced.

Now, let me be honest: The acting is mediocre, the plot has holes, and many scenes are unrealistic. As someone who writes murder mysteries myself, some things were glaring. A real detective would’ve recognized his own daughter. They delay blood tests. They don’t want to file a missing‑person report. And they never explain who kidnapped Bella years earlier.

But here’s the thing...none of that stopped me from bawling my eyes out through half the show. Watching Bella’s ghost hear her family dismiss her, even in death, hit me harder than I expected. And when the truth finally comes out, it’s genuinely emotional. The core story is powerful, and if you have an imagination, you can see past the low budget and appreciate the depth of what they were trying to do.

Overall, I’d give Weeping Bones four stars. The concept has so much potential, and I’d love to see it expanded into a full series with more backstory and stronger writing.

If you want to check it out for yourself, Weeping Bones is free on YouTube. If you’re anything like me, you might find yourself crying over a story that’s imperfect but unexpectedly moving.

Coming soon! Sectarian, Dark Musicals Book 11

Erik Patko is living in the shadow of his celebrity parents. Returning to the family theater’s summer show is a constant reminder that he’ll never meet their expectations, but the seashore town of Cape May is the perfect setting to confess his love to his friend Priscilla and may give them an edge on the competition later when they audition for their college production of Renters.

Resident drag queen Curtis Hawthorne is thrilled to be cast in the starring role in Sexy Boots at the Ange du Palais, but not everyone wants the show to succeed. With protestors outside the door and a saboteur within, the curtain may fall on this performance before Curtis takes his closing bow.

Despite the growing tension between them, these two musical theater stars will join forces to face off against the Millsboro Church when the hateful leader targets the people they love.

Before to catch up on the previous books before Sectarian is released!

Although Erik Patko is still coming to terms with a heartbreaking tragedy, he begins his sophomore year of college with high hopes. He earns a headlining role in the drama club production of Curtain Drop, but while the musical is a comedy, the drama backstage is no joke. Scenery is tampered with, students are blackmailed, and four influential families are accused of bribing the dean. While his confidence is shattered and he struggles with his conflicting feelings for his roommate’s sister Priscilla, Erik must discover who’s behind the scandal before his Broadway dreams are derailed forever.

Slasher Short Film #FREE on YouTube

Author C.P. Bialois is one of my favorite authors, and now his brilliant novel The Slasher Experience has been made into a short film. It's free to watch on You Tube. Check it out below. If you love it, be sure to pick up a copy of the novel for even more blood and gore!

Casi is a gifted young woman who only wants to help others, but when her parents don’t allow her to help a grieving neighbor, her brother, Tom, decides it’s time to get her out of the house and let her live some.

For him, that involves the Slasher Experience, a who-dun-it weekend based on the low budget, smash hit slasher horror movie. Bringing his two best friends, he hopes to give Casi the time of her life, but when the horror turns real and there’s nowhere to run, her talents are put to the test.

Short Film Review: Kadupul

After surviving a physical assault in her freshman year, college sophomore Klarissa Bloom, finds the strength to identify not with the violence she suffered, but with her passion for dance.

My Thoughts

This short film takes us through the aftermath of sexual assault as a young college student tries to come to terms with what was done to her. We also see the struggle of her best friend, the would-be boyfriend who might've prevented it if he had shared his feelings sooner, and the person who introduced her to the perpetrator. This unique take on the issue shows us the ripple effect assault can have, not only for the victim, but for those around them who deal with the guilt of failing to prevent it.

While all the performances in this indie film were all outstanding, I was especially impressed with the acting abilities of leading lady Briana R. Jordan. Her portrayal of an assault victim was realistic and heart wrenching. Yet, the story still has, if not a happy ending, a hint of hope and healing. Through the dance, Klarissa begins to heal. This emotion is conveyed beautifully through the graceful movements of the actors/dancers.  It teaches us that there is hope beyond the pain, and oftentimes, art is the road that leads us to healing.

You can watch this stunning theatrical piece FREE with Amazon Prime. It's only about half an hour long, and definitely worth the watch!
